American Express Shop Small Campaign - Keeping it in the family!
Nov 14, 2015
In the run up to Small Business Saturday on 5th December, American Express is shining a spotlight on the nation’s family businesses with the help of renowned photographer Dan Rubin and celebrating their successes.
We are sooooo thrilled to be one of ten businesses chosen by American Express to represent independent family businesses from all over the UK!
Our Mother and Daughter business journey began two and a half years ago on the High Street in Solihull. We set up our Children's clothing and gift shop to provide Solihull and the surrounding areas with unique childrenswear and personalised gifts. We are very passionate about supporting our local community and so we think this campaign is a fantastic way of celebrating and supporting small businesses like ours.
Here's our top five reasons to shop small:
Small retailers rely on your custom, your purchases are buying things like their child's ballet classes and football lessons. Your custom means a lot to them.
Shopping locally saves our community and independent companies - it's the old 'use it or loose it' philosophy.
Save the Environment! Reduce your carbon footprint by buying from local businesses.
Small businesses will go above and beyond to make sure that you have the very best customer service.
Spend £10 or more and get £5 back from American Express! Shop Small from 5 December right up to 20 December 2015, and every time you spend £10 or more on your American Express Card in a single transaction at participating small businesses you’ll get a £5 statement credit. You’ll receive one statement credit at each participating small business, so the more you Shop Small the more you benefit. What’s more, there’s no limit to the number of times you can receive your £5 statement credit – although you can only claim it once at any one location. To take part, simply register your Card. It only takes a few moments and then you’re ready to Shop Small.
We think it is paramount to today's economy and society that people shop small. By doing so, you’re giving independent andsmallbusinessesa gift. Each and every penny is appreciated. We also think it helps with good old community spirit; nothing beats the customer service you get when the local Butcher remembers your name, or when your local Independent children's shop knows you and that your child would need a 12-18 months, or that you'd love the new t-shirts we've just had in!
A few weeks ago we welcomed the Small Business Saturday film crew and photographer Dan Rubin into our shop on Solihull High Street. We had a great afternoon, talking about promoting support for small businesses and the team were extremely good fun to work with. The photoshoot with Dan Rubin was a highlight, which I think shows in the wonderful portrait!
In a special photography series titled ‘Keeping it in the Family…A Nation of Shopkeepers’, the portraits of the ten independent businesses featured will now be in an exhibition at Proud Archivist, London from 9 until 15 November.
